Chair Peter Gillham opened the evening's event and Assistant Governor Judy Beasley proposed the toast to Rotary International and Past District Governor Eddie Loughnan responded.
We welcomed members, partners and friends all to our Roll Over Meeting and President David, fresh from the Rotary Convention in Toronto, acknowledged the evening's special guests including a plethora of presidents past and present, a dazzling array of District dignitaries, honorary members and Rotaractors.
We were delighted when our special ladies Sue Hill, Terry Thornton and Robyn Campbell received their Paul Harris Fellow Recognitions and our Club is all the more friendly and engaging for their presence.
The Geelong Harmony Chorus provided first class entertainment - what wonderful and joyous music presented with great skill and charm!
President David reflected on the year past and we applauded the work of the Board past and warmly welcomed the new Board.
Assistant Governor Judy presented the Club with a District Recognition for its work with the clean water project in Cambodia under the leadership of Past President Bryan Humphrey.
President David spoke to the Club's plans for the year ahead and...almost...had Adrian Innes at a loss for words when Adrian was presented with his 40 years service award.
Adrian joined our Club in 1978, served as Club Secretary in 1981 and as Youth Exchange Counsellor in 1986 and 1987.
Adrian was president in 1998/1999 and has served on the Multi-District "Shine On" awards committee for 15 years.
Of course, Adrian is renown for his leadership over so many years of the Showgrounds Hamburger Stand which is our major fundraiser.
Adrian embodies Rotary and the spirit of service and friendship in our Club. Congratulations, Adrian!
We were delighted to welcome Gary Newton to membership of our Club and we look forward to many years of sharing the fun and service of Rotary with Gary and his family.
All in all, a wonderful night. Well done to all who assisted in making the evening such a success.
