Stan Deans urges us to become involved in District 9780’s program, Defying the Drift, aimed at raising the awareness of young people to opportunities to pursue careers in agriculture. The residential program will be held at Marcus Oldham College from 25 to 27 September 2017. Stan has already found two participants and urged others to look for likely young people who would benefit from the program.
Hands Up For Volunteering!
An evening aimed at raising awareness of opportunities for volunteering in our community is the theme of our meeting on 22 August here at The Hub.
The guest speaker will be Gail Rogers, currently CEO of the Geelong Community Foundation and former CEO of Volunteer Geelong. All members were encouraged to bring along a friend / colleague/acquaintance interested in volunteering.
There will be no charge for the meal due to the generous support of AGB and their charity arm, Community Veracity - thank you, Robert Dejanovic and Tony Alsop!

The Rotary Foundation
Past Governor Eddie has received the following email of appreciation and is submitting it for inclusion in case
anyone in the Club who donated to TRF last year has not received a similar personal email from Evanston:
Dear Eddie,
By giving to The Rotary Foundation during our centennial year, you joined more donors than ever in empowering our Foundation to take on larger projects with greater impact. From developing nationwide literacy programs to training tomorrow’s peacemakers to helping push polio to the brink of eradication, your donation is Doing Good in the World.
Thank you for celebrating this tremendous milestone by giving. The Foundation’s second century — and the future of all who depend on its work — will be brighter because of you.
Sincerely,
The Rotary Foundation
Rotary Global Rewards - Rotarians' member benefits program Nearly 4,000 people responded to a survey put out by the Rotary Global Rewards Committee. Survey results revealed: - 51 percent of Rotary and Rotaract members surveyed said that Rotary Global Rewards adds value to their membership.
- 54 percent indicated that listing businesses in Rotary Global Rewards was a benefit of membership.
- 20 percent said that the program was a factor in their decision to join or remain a member.
- Members appreciate offers that give them discounts as well as giving back to Rotary.
- The program needs to be promoted more within clubs and districts so that all members will know about it.
- Rotary Global Rewards should have more offers in some countries and fewer offers in others.
- The program should be easier to use.
- Many members do not sign in to My Rotary to use Rotary Global Rewards.
Rotary Global Rewards is taking action in response. Rotary Global Rewards now includes: - More merchant offers that give users discounts and also give back to Rotary.
- New offers from Amazon and other online retailers that do not require users to sign in to My Rotary.
- An enhanced desktop display that shows details of offers and streamlined categories for filtering them .
Rotary Global Rewards plan to: - Introduce a simplified mobile version of Rotary Global Rewards later this month
