Announcements, News and Help Required

Announcements (the Bulletin Editor thanks Club Secretary Jenny for her excellent reporting of the following)
  • Tree Day 2 August 2020 – Peter Funston is the coordinator

  • David Beretta was unfortunately hit by a car while riding his bike, resulting in a damaged leg. We wish him well.

  • Club survey of meetings after the COVID-19 restrictions is in circulation. All members are urged to complete the form and return it  to David Sykes.

  • President-Elect Yannick asked Board members and committee chairs to ensure their data is up-to-date on ClubRunner.

  • Jenny announced that the District has endorsed a candidate for a 2021 Peace Fellowship. It’s highly competitive with about 50 people selected world-wide to study peace and conflict resolution at the Master’s level at one of 6 Rotary Peace centres located in prestigious universities across the globe.

  • Finalisation of attendance for 2019-2020- Satbir is asking members to advise him of the date and place of any make-ups for the year.

  • The theme for our Changeover on 7 July 2020 will be French in Yannick’s honour.

  • Brief Board report:

  • Treasurer Adam's email about the Rotary Fighting Fund that was approved by the Board on 16 June appears below. Members will be invited to donate $10 per week to the Fighting Fund  voluntarily so the clubs can continue its community service.

  • dues we set for 2020-2021 – no increase on last year. $270.00 with a concessional rate of $245.00. Maybe the Workers of the World could unite and round up their payment to $300.00 with the extra $30.00 for The Rotary Foundation?

The meeting took the form of Club Assembly Part 2 for a short time.

Question asked (by Bill Bailey) on the ability to make donations direct to RCGE bank account, given he was saving money by not attending meetings face to face. Answer - Yes, but a new account is being setup by the Treasurer to manage these donations.  Bill then asked could he donate to a committee of his choice (International). President Tony answered that was not the Board’s decision – the donations will be distributed equally to the five service committees.
Details of the new account for donations will be to be circulated to all club members by the Treasurer.

Members’ were again invited to share their creative talents.
  • Jane Bolton showed a 4-minute video on a renovation she and her husband completed on a property in Corio. Most impressive!

  • Peter Funston displayed one of his paintings

  • Kris Adam displayed a new creation entitled  ‘Solstice 2020’, done on an i-pad with an Apple pencil

The Fighting Fund - It's Fundermental

Following on from the Club Assembly in late June, all members voted in favour of setting up a 'Fighting Fund', providing members the opportunity to voluntarily donate to a fundraising fund where 100% of proceeds will be allocated to the four service committees (Youth, Vocation, International & Community) and Foundation to support their projects in the wider community.

We have suggested a voluntary donation of $10 per zoom meeting is applied, however members are welcome to contribute more or less than this figure.

For ease of reconciliation for the club accounts, can I please request from all members that they contribute to the fighting fund on a monthly or quarterly basis, as reconciling $10 transactions for 50+ members on a weekly basis may kill off your favourite treasurer!
How to donate:
1. EFT:
BSB: 633 000 Account No: 146 425 996
Please include your name in the subject line & "RFF" so I can track payments.
2. Cheque:
Feel free to drop off a cheque to my letterbox (165 McKillop St Geelong, 3220).
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out via email (adam.koch87@gmail.com) or call me on 0414 272 260.
Thanks
Adam Koch
Treasurer
