We are about to embark on the Covid-19 vaccinations throughout Australia.

Rotary has been vaccinating children all around the world and in some of the world's hot spots and war zones. Starting in 1979, Rotary set out to rid the world of Polio. The trial was conducted in the Philippines and was successful.

At the time, approximately 1,000 children were being paralysed daily by the Polio virus . Of that number, many were left crippled, many died and some were lucky enough to survive without much effect.  Rotary's plan was to rid the world of Polio as a 'Gift to the Children of the World'.

Today there are only two endemic countries; Afghanistan and Pakistan. The global incidence of polio cases has decreased by 99%.

Rotary works with its partners, World Health Organisation, Centres for Disease Control, UNICEF, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Gavi Vaccine Alliance.
