Since women began to join Rotary, their contribution has been immeasurable. Having been a men's club since inception, women were finally admitted to the organisation in 1987. This followed a decade long battle and was settled by the Supreme Court of the US
Since that time there have been thousands of women members of Rotary Clubs, thousands of District Governors, many Rotary International Directors and three Rotary International women as Presidents of the whole organisation.
We pay homage to the insights into different areas of need, different cultural aspects and the difference in thinking that has made male members sit up and take notice.
Rotary Geelong East has 41 members of whom 18 are women. They bring so much to our club and we would not be as good without them.
